Most first-time agri-export delays are documentation problems, not logistics problems. Work through this list before you book a container.
Registrations to complete first
These take the longest, so start them in parallel with buyer negotiation.
- Importer-Exporter Code (IEC)
- APEDA or commodity-board registration where applicable
- GST registration and an AD Code-linked current account
- FSSAI registration for food products
Per-shipment documents
Every consignment travels with a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or airway bill, certificate of origin, and — for most plant products — a phytosanitary certificate issued after inspection.
Where consignments get rejected
Pesticide residue limits, labelling that does not match the destination market, and mismatched weights between the packing list and the certificate are the three most frequent rejection causes we see. Verify all three before dispatch.
